Gleb Savchenko likes to lead when he dances.

That’s why his role as Celebrity Guest Host in The Chippendales show at the Rio through May 12 is his perfect stepping stone to a new stage of his career. The handsome Savchenko, who has made his name in the last 12 years as a Pro Dancer on “Dancing with the Stars,” has never done anything like this before and is finding it exciting.

“This is emotionally huge for me,” Savchenko reveals. “The show’s about me. My name is everywhere – on billboards, videos, and all promotion. The cast is so supportive. There is an artsy and sexy way to take off your clothes and I know I look good. I’ve worked so hard to build a name for myself.

“On Dancing with the Stars, it’s all about the celebrities,” he explains. “I cater to them and make sure that the woman I am dancing with looks good. Now it’s my turn to shine and have my talent showcased. It’s almost like I am vulnerable on stage but performing and seizing the moment. The stage, for me, is my second home.”

Savchenko, who choreographs all the dances for himself and his partner on Dancing with the Stars, collaborated with choreographer Dana Wilson for the Chippendales gig. He performs two sexy vignettes, one in which he “bares it all” in the shower and another one called Seduction, which is inspired by “50 Shades of Gray.”

If you are wondering how he keeps in shape, he says that while he doesn’t watch his calories, he doesn’t eat sugar at all.

“I eat pretty clean,” he reveals. “I don’t remember when I even had a Coke. But I love working out at the gym. It’s kind of a moment when I zone out. I hit it hard.”

As for how one becomes a great dancer, Savchenko says that one really has to want it, be passionate about it, and be very disciplined and work hard. He was born in Moscow and emigrated to New York alone when he was 19. (His parents still reside in Moscow). Making his home here in the United States, he spent years training and competing in ballroom competitions. His last competition ended in 2013.

As for what’s next for Savchenko, he will join the renowned world tour Chippendales cast for six sexy performances at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City July 18-21.

It’s just one more cool move in the choreographing of his career.
